Posey hires Randy Winn to lead player development 

Randy Winn will take over San Francisco’s player development after spending the last decade as a broadcaster.

Randy Winn has been appointed as the new vice president of player development for the San Francisco Giants.

Driving the news: Winn, a 13-season MLB veteran, previously played for the Giants from 2005-09 and was hired by former teammate Buster Posey, who recently became the team’s president of baseball operations.

  • In addition to his playing career, Winn held various roles within the Giants organization, including roving outfield and baserunning instructor, special assistant to the general manager and pro scout.
  • The 50-year-old has also been a Giants broadcaster since 2013 and recently became chairman of the Giants Community Fund.
