Adrian Martinez named MVP for UFL Championship

The former Golden Eagle led the Birmingham Stallions to the UFL Championship.

Adrian Martinez was named the MVP of the UFL Championship game on Sunday for leading the Birmingham Stallions to a 25-0 win over the San Antonio Brahmas, securing the UFL title. 

The former Clovis West quarterback secured his second award in the last week after being named the league MVP ahead of the title game. 


The big picture: Martinez completed 13 of 23 passes for 98 yards and 1 touchdown, adding 52 yards on the ground and 2 rushing touchdowns. 

  • The Birmingham Stallions led the league with a 9-1 record. 
  • Martinez was third in the UFL with 1,750 passing yards on the season despite only starting 7 games. 
  • He threw 15 touchdowns and only 3 interceptions and led the league with 528 rushing yards. 

What we’re watching: Martinez’s star performance in the UFL could earn him another look from NFL teams. 

  • After playing for Nebraska and Kansas State in college, Martinez signed as an undrafted free agent with the Detroit Lions in May 2023 but was waived before the NFL season started.
