Sun-Maid names Steve Loftus as new CEO

Loftus replaces the outgoing Harry Overly, who is leaving to head-up a snack company in Minnesota.

Sun-Maid Growers of California announced Wednesday that it has promoted Steve Loftus from President and Chief Operating Officer to President and Chief Executive Officer. 

Former CEO Harry Overly is also stepping away as Executive Chairman of the Sun-Maid Board of Directors in September. 

Driving the news: Loftus joined the raisin giant in December 2022 and will continue to focus on executive the company’s strategic initiatives and driving efficiencies for growth. 

  • With the transition complete, Overly is officially leaving to be the President and CEO of Flagstone Foods, a snack company based out of Minnesota. 

What they’re saying: “I am honored to assume the role of CEO and grateful for the support of the board and our grower-members,” Loftus said. “I look forward to continuing to work closely with our team to build on our success and drive the business forward, ensuring that Sun-Maid remains a leader in the industry.” 

  • Sun-Maid Board President Paul Toste said Overly’s commitment and leadership have been instrumental in guiding Sun-Maid through a significant period of growth and transformation. 
  • “We are appreciative of his services and optimistic about Sun-Maid’s future under Steve’s direction,” Toste said. “Without a question, Steve’s vision and dedication to our grower families and the company will propel Sun-Maid to new heights.”
