A Fresno man will spend the next decade behind bars for dealing fentanyl.
U.S. Attorney Phillip Talbert announced Monday that Alden Nunez-Rosales, 27, had been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison.
The big picture: Nunez-Rosales was caught by law enforcement in a sting operation on April 26, 2023.
- He delivered 5,000 fentanyl pills to a person who he believed to be a customer at the time, but was actually a government informant.
- Law enforcement followed Nunez-Rosales back to his residence, where he got 45,000 more fentanyl pills that he intended to deal.
- Shortly after, officers tried to conduct a traffic stop, but Nunez-Rosales sped off and crashed into a tree before fleeing on foot.
- Officers caught him and later seized over 12 kilograms of fentanyl pills, along with a firearm, ammunition, a scale and over $3,500 in cash.
- He pled guilty to dealing fentanyl in February.
