Assembly Republicans are bringing forward a resolution to condemn Hamas.
The resolution also denounces recent acts of antisemitism and demands that Hamas release the hostages that it holds.
Driving the news: Assembly Republican Leader James Gallagher (R–Yuba City) announced Friday that the resolution will be formally introduced when the Legislature reconvenes in January.
- Along with Gallagher, 16 other Republican Assemblymembers have signed on as coathors to the resolution.
- Coauthors include Central Valley representatives Jim Patterson (R–Fresno), Heath Flora (R–Lodi), Juan Alanis (R–Modesto), Vince Fong (R–Bakersfield) and Devon Mathis (R–Visalia).
What they’re saying: “As leaders, we must be clear and unequivocal – we condemn the murder, rape, torture and mutilation of innocent people that was committed by Hamas terrorists on October 7,” Gallagher said. “This is a time to come together and say clearly that there is no place for Hamas’ savage ideology of terror and hate.”
