Yosemite National Park is closing significant parts of Yosemite Valley effective Friday evening over increased threat of flooding from melting snow.
Driving the news: Most of Yosemite Valley will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday until at least May 3, with the potential for further closures later in May and June.
- The park experienced extreme rain and heavy snowfall this winter, which led to a three-week closure in February and March.
- Daytime highs in the valley will be in the 50s each day through the weekend, with a warm spell moving in that will speed up the snowmelt.
