Faraday Future’s Hanford production launch no longer far-away

With cash in hand, Faraday Future has officially set its start of production date.

Luxury electric car start-up Faraday Future has confirmed that production of its flagship vehicle will start at the end of march in its Hanford manufacturing facility.

Faraday Future previously announced that it received $135 million in financing commitments to kick-start production.

The big picture: Faraday Future is targeting a start date of March 30 to begin production on the FF 91 Futurist vehicle, with the first vehicles expected to come off the assembly line in early April.

  • The company expects to deliver its first vehicles by the end of April.
  • In its announcement, Faraday Future notes that the March 30 date is contingent on the timely receipt of funds from the company’s investors.

State of play: This latest announcement comes ahead of a special stockholders meeting scheduled for Feb. 28, a requirement for the company to remain listed with Nasdaq.

  • Faraday Future also plans to hold the 2023 Faraday Future Global Supplier Summit during the last week of April, where it will announce new shared business initiatives as the first vehicles are delivered to customers.
  • The FF 91 Futurist boasts 1,050 horsepower, a range of 381 miles and can hit 0-60 miles per hour in 2.27 seconds.

What they’re saying: Faraday Future says in its announcement that its flagship FF 91 Futurist will compete with Ferrari, Maybach, Rolls Royce and Bentley in the luxury EV spectrum.

  • “This SOP will undoubtedly be our most important historic moment since FF was established. We would like to express our sincerest appreciation and respect to all of those who have stood beside us for their unwavering support,” said Chen Xuefeng, the company’s CEO.
