Fresno Sheriff orders evacuations over ‘atmospheric river’ rainfall

With an atmospheric river set to douse the San Joaquin Valley with rain and the Sierra Nevadas with rain and snow, Fresno County officials announced evacuation orders and warnings for key sections of the foothills.

Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims announced an evacuation warning for the Creek Fire burn scar area. She issued an evacuation order for Big Creek Canyon from below Big Creek to the San Joaquin River.

The Sheriff’s Office also released real-time, updated maps for weather impacts and evacuation warnings and orders.
