Visalia Unified to reopen middle and high schools March 25

Students whose parents have chosen the in-person learning option will return to school on March 25 as the district shifts to a hybrid model.

With Tulare County moving into the less-restrictive red tier in California’s COVID-19 reopening blueprint, Visalia Unified School District is reopening middle school and high school campuses for in-person instruction.

Students whose parents have chosen the in-person learning option will return to school on March 25 as the district shifts to a hybrid model.

Just like with the district’s elementary schools, secondary school students will attend classes either in the morning or the afternoon.

“Safety protocols and directional signage is currently in place on all secondary campuses. Administration at each school has communicated the safety plans with their staff, and all staff have received District COVID training,” said VUSD in a statement.

“Students on campus will be required to follow safety measures including social distancing, mask wearing, and hand hygiene. Students will be required to social distance while in the classroom and follow directional signage when transitioning on campus. It is essential that all students, staff, and families follow these protocols to keep everyone safe.”

Schools will have designated pick up and drop off sites, and students will have assigned times to enter and leave campus.

Meal distribution will resume for all secondary students on March 25, and students who are remaining on the full distance learning track can pick up meal packs at any middle or high school every Wednesday, starting March 24.
