Whole Foods fish fillets recalled

The fish fillets have been recalled due to an undeclared soy allergen.

Whole Foods has issued a nationwide recall for two types of frozen fish fillets.

Driving the news: Fish supplier Tampa Bay Fisheries, Inc. issued the recall for one lot of 365 Whole Foods Market Beer Battered Pollock Filets and two lots of 365 Beer Battered Cod Fillet.

  • The filets are being recalled because of an undeclared soy allergen.
  • They were available for purchase at Whole Foods stores nationwide from Sep. 8 through Dec. 12.
  • No illnesses have been reported yet from the soy allergen.
  • Tampa Bay Fisheries initiated the recall after it was discovered that the packaging did not reveal the presence of soy despite the product having soy in it.
  • Consumers who purchased the fish should not consume it and should dispose of it. People can bring a valid receipt into a Whole Foods store for a refund.
