The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced new guidelines for coronavirus protection that state fully-vaccinated Americans no longer need to wear facial coverings in indoor or outdoor settings.
In response to the announcement, a number of states immediately ended their mask mandates and national retailers and restaurant chains announced they would no longer enforce a mask policy to work, shop, or dine in their establishments.
