Fresno State Women’s Basketball star twins Haley and Hanna Cavinder announced Monday that they are entering the transfer portal to finish their collegiate basketball careers elsewhere.
Red wave, Hanna and I want to thank you for all the love you have shown us these last three years at Fresno State,” Haley Cavinder wrote on a social media post.
“We have grown so much as people and players at Fresno, making this not an easy decision. Thank you to Coach [Jaime] White, her staff, our amazing teammates, and the Valley for everything that they have done for us while we were here.”
The twins burst onto the scene in 2019 as freshmen who immediately played as starters.
With the Bulldogs going 25-7 and winning the Mountain West regular season title, the Cavinders were both named to the All-Freshman and All-Mountain West teams, and Haley Cavinder was named as the conference freshman of the year.
The twins were once again named to the All-Mountain West Team last year, with Haley Cavinder being honored as the Conference Player of the year. Haley Cavinder was named to the All-conference team this year as well.
While they played at a high level each of their three years at the Save Mart Center, the team as a whole went in the opposite direction.
In the 2020-2021 season, the Bulldogs fell to 17-11, and this year they dropped all the way to 11-18 as the twins accounted for 49.6 percent of scoring on the team.
The twins earned their fame in the Central Valley through their play on the court, but their efforts on social media landed them several name image and likeness deals last July when the NCAA legalized such endorsements, earning them national fame in the process.
Haley and Hanna Cavinder have two years of eligibility remaining.
