Fresno St. captures MW softball crown with sweep of Boise St.

The Fresno State softball team (34-9) managed to score a Mother’s Day parlay and pick-up the Mountain West conference title.

Entering Sunday needing a win to conclude a sweep of the Boise State Broncos (19-23) and a separate victory by Nevada (19-15) over UNLV (25-12), the Fresno State softball team (34-9) managed to score a Mother’s Day parlay and pick-up the Mountain West conference title.

The offense in the Bulldogs’ 3-1 victory over Boise State at Margie Wright Diamond on Senior Day was delivered exclusively by Sanger High phenom Vanessa Hernandez, who batted 2-for-3 with a pair of singles to drive in runs.

Following the championship celebration, Hernandez posed for a photo in homage of Los Angeles Lakers great Kobe Bryant.

The Sunday victory and clinching of the Mountain West title hands the Bulldogs their first automatic bid to the NCAA softball tournament since 2017.

Fresno State continues to wrap-up its regular season conference schedule on Friday with a double-header visiting the Aztecs of San Diego State before a Saturday evening regular season finale.
