Tulare Co. shutters jury trials for 2020

As coronavirus cases and hospitalizations spike in the San Joaquin Valley, at least one county is putting its courtrooms on furlough akin to the March shutdown.

Tulare County Superior Court announced it is suspending criminal and civil jury trials through the end of the year.

Individuals that received a summons to appear for jury service during the month of December are not required to appear. Those receiving summons with an appearance date after Jan. 1, 2021 are required to make their appearance.

The Sun contacted officials with the Fresno County Superior Court regarding potential changes to operations. They did not respond in time for publication.
