U.S. Chamber endorses Valadao over Salas

The Chamber issued its endorsement in the 22nd Congressional District on Tuesday, choosing to back Valadao.

Rep. David Valadao (R–Hanford) was endorsed by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday for the 22nd Congressional District.

Valadao is running for reelection against former Asm. Rudy Salas (D–Bakersfield) in a rematch of 2022.

The big picture: The Chamber announced its endorsement of Valadao at an event with local businesses in Wasco.

  • The Chamber says it endorses candidates for federal office who will stand up for free enterprise, including advocating for public policy solutions that will spur economic growth, support jobs and promote businesses to continue to innovate and invest in the United States.

What they’re saying: Nikkie Nguyen, the Western Region Manager at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, said Valadao has been a relentless champion for Central Valley businesses and families.

  • “Congressman Valadao supports pro-growth policies that lower costs and expand job opportunities for Central Valley families, and he’s led bipartisan efforts to build more water infrastructure and address our immigration and workforce challenges,” Nguyen said. “The U.S. Chamber is proud to stand with Congressman Valadao and endorse his reelection for California’s 22nd congressional district.”
  • Jenny Holtermann, the President of the Kern County Farm Bureau, said the bureau is excited to work alongside Valadao’s team to get him reelected.
  • “David Valadao exemplifies the importance of protecting our agriculture future and understands firsthand the need for economic viability and sustainability for the generations to come,” Holtermann said.
