Former Congressman George Radanovich has secured a first place finish in the primary election for Assembly District 8.
Republican David Tangipa holds a very narrow lead over Democrat Caleb Helsel for second place and a spot on the November ballot.
The big picture: Radanovich has a solid lead at 36.8 percent, which will send him to November.
- Tangipa, who has the support of Asm. Jim Patterson (R–Fresno), is in second place as of the latest results on Wednesday at 30.1 percent.
- Helsel also has 30.1 percent of the vote, but is currently only 35 votes behind Tangipa.
- Michael Matheson, the only other candidate in the race, has three percent.
