House Speaker Mike Johnson headed back to the Valley to raise money for Duarte

Duarte faces a rematch against former Asm. Adam Gray (D–Merced) in one of the most competitive districts in the nation two years ago.

Speaker of the House Mike Johnson is returning to the Central Valley for another fundraiser.

Johnson will make an appearance in Madera later this month to raise money for Rep. John Duarte (R–Modesto).

The big picture: The fundraiser will take place on Aug. 19 at 5:30 p.m. at an undisclosed location in Madera.

  • Tickets start at $2,000 per person for the general reception, although a couple can pay $3,300 total for two tickets.
  • Donors can pay $5,000 for the co-host category, which gets two people in for the reception and a photo opportunity.
  • The highest tier costs $10,000 for the host category, which gets six people in the reception with a photo opportunity for all of them.

Flashback: Johnson made his first visit to the Central Valley in April, where he came to raise money for the Grow the Majority CA PAC.

  • That PAC provides funding to Duarte, Rep. David Valadao (R–Hanford), Stockton Mayor Kevin Lincoln – who is challenging Rep. Josh Harder (D–Tracy) – and others.
  • Johnson held that fundraiser in Fresno, which was hosted by Harris Construction owner Richard Spencer.
