Weeks after Election Day, Rep. John Duarte (R–Modesto) lost his lead to former Asm. Adam Gray (D–Merced) as ballots continue to be counted three weeks after the election.
The big picture: With the latest update from Merced County coming in on Tuesday, Gray opened a 105-vote lead over Duarte in the race for Congressional District 13.
- Continued updates from additional counties boosted Gray’s lead to 234 votes over Duarte, with the ex-Assemblyman garnering 104,643 votes to Duarte’s 104,409.
What we’re watching: Ballots throughout the district will continue to be counted into next week until the election is certified.
Flashback: Duarte defeated Gray two years ago by 564 votes in one of the closest races across the nation.
