Atwater Police Chief Salvador announces retirement

Salvador will leave the department after five years as chief.

Atwater Police Chief Michael Salvador is retiring from the department. 

Salvador wraps up a 37-year career in law enforcement, which includes the last five years as Atwater’s Police Chief. 

The big picture: During Salvador’s time running the Atwater Police Department, he oversaw the department’s remodel, electric vehicle implementation and charging depot projects. 

  • He has served as an instructor for the West Point/LAPD Leadership course, a member of the California Police Chiefs Association Legislative Committee and chairman for the Region 5 Public Safety Interoperable Communications Grant Committee. 
  • Salvador also served as the president of the Madera Unified School District Board of Trustees. 

What they’re saying: “I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve this community and work alongside such dedicated professionals,” Salvador said. “It has been an honor to protect and serve the residents of Atwater. I am confident that the department will continue to uphold the highest standards of integrity and service.”
