Madera County has launched the Homeless Engagement and Assistance Response Team (H.E.A.R.T).
The team will support the county’s vulnerable residents through coordinated outreach and crisis intervention.
The big picture: The H.E.A.R.T. Team is composed of the Madera County Sheriff’s Office, the Department of Behavioral Health, the Department of Social Services and the Community Action Partnership of Madera County, Inc.
- Along with those organizations, the team is also partnering with Madera County Probation, the Madera Police Department and the Chowchilla Police Department.
What they’re saying: The county said the H.E.A.R.T. Team aims to reduce homelessness by addressing its root causes.
- “Our Job is simple but serious: protect the innocent, uphold the law, and stand ready when our community needs us most,” Madera County Sheriff Tyson Pogue said. “H.E.A.R.T. Madera reflects our belief that real public safety includes reaching people before a crisis escalates – and doing so with compassion and coordination.”
