Greg Barfield Officially Becomes Fresno's Transportation Director

Greg Barfield receives promotion as officially becoming Transportation Director.

The “interim” word is now gone from Greg Barfield’s job title at Fresno City Hall. He’s now simply (and officially) the city’s Transportation Director.

City officials made the announcement on Tuesday.

Said City Manager Wilma Quan in a written statement:

“Making the change in Greg’s title from interim to official was one of my easiest decisions as City Manager. His experience in public administration and his talent for managing complex issues have made Greg an invaluable member of our team. I look forward to more great things from him in the future.”

It’s worth noting that Barfield is another example of in-house managerial talent being recognized and rewarded at City Hall. Mike Lima in Finance, Mike Carbajal in Public Utilities, Scott Mozier in Public Works and Quan (along with Assistant City Managers Jane Sumpter and Jim Schaad in the City Manager’s Office) are just a few of the executives who have worked their way up through the ranks during the administrations of Mayors Lee Brand and Ashley Swearengin.

Congratulations, Greg!
