Fresno artist Chris Sorensen has passed away at the age of 98.
The Fresno Art Museum announced Sorensen’s passing on Facebook.

In memoriam: Sorenson was very active in the local art community as a sculptor and an advocate.
- The famed artist started his own studio in south Fresno, Chris Sorensen Studio, which rents spaces to nearly 60 working artists.
- Sorenson’s studio is situated next to the famous “Welcome to Fresno” arch on Van Ness Boulevard.
- Sorensen was known for his work with metal and was a founder of ArtHop.
