Fresno artist Chris Sorensen passes away 

The metal sculptor leaves his legacy on the local art community.

Fresno artist Chris Sorensen has passed away at the age of 98. 

The Fresno Art Museum announced Sorensen’s passing on Facebook. 

In memoriam: Sorenson was very active in the local art community as a sculptor and an advocate. 

  • The famed artist started his own studio in south Fresno, Chris Sorensen Studio, which rents spaces to nearly 60 working artists. 
  • Sorenson’s studio is situated next to the famous “Welcome to Fresno” arch on Van Ness Boulevard.
  • Sorensen was known for his work with metal and was a founder of ArtHop.
