A release distributed late Tuesday came on the heels of an email from faith leaders in Fresno distributing details of his announcement event.

Last Monday, Fresno Mayor Lee Brand announced that he would not seek a second term in 2020. Dyer shortly thereafter announced he was “strongly considering” a bid for Mayor.

Fresno City Councilman Luis Chavez also jumped into the race last week.

Since Brand’s surprise announcement, Dyer met with fellow Mayoral contender, prosecutor Andrew Janz, for breakfast on Friday. The two were joined by Janz’s boss, Fresno County District Attorney Lisa Smittcamp.

Dyer and Janz told GVWire that the meeting was a chance to discuss the issues.

The Police Chief will announce his candidacy at Manchester Center, home of the Central Policing District.

Asm. Rudy Salas (D–Bakersfield) has released his latest advertisement in his effort to unseat Rep. David Valadao (R–Hanford) for the 22nd Congressional District.
But a fact check reveals that Salas’s claims do not fully line up with the truth.
In the advertisement, Salas – who has served in the Assembly since 2012 – said he has raised the minimum wage, is lowering the price of medication like insulin and was the only Assembly Democrat to vote “no” on raising the gas tax.
