Man arrested for threatening Kern Co. Supervisor

Parish Buzzard faces felony charges after threatening to kill Supervisor Jeff Flores over email.

A man was arrested for making threats to Kern County Supervisor Jeff Flores.

Parrish Buzzard, 61, was taken into custody by the Kern County Sheriff’s Office and charged with stalking, making criminal threats and threatening state officials.

The big picture: Buzzard made the threats against Flores and the supervisor’s family through many emails this month.

  • Flores told the Bakersfield Californian many of the emails were sent in the early morning hours, with him counting around 150 in total.
  • The emails reportedly included death threats and demands for money and included pictures of Flores.

What he’s saying: Flores released a statement thanking the Sheriff’s Office for their quick investigation into the threats.

  • “KCSO are true heroes who keep our community safe every day and every night, and they have our gratitude,” Flores said. “I firmly believe that Kern County must be a safe place of residence for everyone in our community; no one should be targeted for their politics, ethnicity, or elected status.”
  • He added, “Attempts to terrorize, extort, or threaten elected officials are attacks on democracy and our voice. We will not be silenced, and we will not stop fighting for a brighter future for all of Kern County.”
