Kern Sheriff’s deputies bust illegal marijuana operation in Bakersfield

Deputies arrested 35 people involved in the grow, who were also carrying illegal firearms.

The Kern County Sheriff’s Office arrested 35 people for possessing illegal firearms and for operating an illegal marijuana grow. 

Driving the news: Deputies and the Kern County High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force executed a search warrant on Feb. 14 on an illegal indoor marijuana grow operation that was discovered in a large warehouse in the 3400 block of Getty St., Bakersfield. 

  • During the search 14 suspects attempted to hide inside different grow rooms and refused to comply with law enforcement. 
  • The other 21 suspects attempted to flee out of the rear of the warehouse. 
  • All 35 suspects were eventually detained without incident. 
  • In total, law enforcement eradicated 2,591 marijuana plants from the grow rooms and seized around 500 pounds of processed marijuana.
