Kern County Chief Administrative Officer James Zervis is leaving the south valley to move to Florida.
Zervis has accepted a job with the city of Boca Raton, Florida, according to a report from the Bakersfield Californian.
The big picture: Boca Raton is hiring Zervis as its financial services director.
- The move, Zervis told the Californian, is so he and his wife can be closer to their children in Indiana and Kansas.
- Zervis leaves his position after just six months on the job, as he ascended to the county’s top spot in August of last year.
- In 2020, Zervis was appointed as Kern County’s Chief Operations Officer. Prior to that, Zervis worked for Shafter from 2011-2020 and Wasco from 2009-2011.
