Hard Rock Tejon is getting ready to hire employees for the hotel and casino that are scheduled to open at the end of the year.
The big picture: Hard Rock Tejon will host a job fair at Bakersfield College on April 4 and 5, casino President Chris Kelley told the Kern County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
- The hotel and casino will hire around 5,000 people, including card dealers.
- Kelley, speaking at the chamber’s Government Relations Committee meeting, also revealed that Hard Rock has plans to open a dealer school to provide six to eight weeks of training.
- The dealer school will likely start in July or August, according to Kelley.
State of play: Along with the April job fair, the company is also moving forward with hiring senior executives in areas such as finance, human resources, marketing and purchasing.
- The April job fair, according to the Bakersfield Californian, will focus on jobs in cash operations, food and beverage, entertainment, executive and administration, finance, hotel operations, human resources and information technology.
Driving the news: Hard Rock Tejon will feature a casino floor that spans over 100,000 square feet and has over 2,500 slot machines and 50 gaming tables.
- The hotel will have 400 rooms, and the project also includes an events venue that will hold 2,800 people.
- The casino is on track to open in December, with the hotel scheduled for 2027.
What he’s saying: “What we’re talking about now is adding the heart of the house,” Kelley said in a KERO report. “We’re talking about how do we bring those vendors in, and most importantly, how do we bring those team members to bring this property to life?”
