Robitussin recalled for microbial contamination

The contamination could cause life-threatening events.

Robitussin syrup is being recalled because of a microbial contamination. 

The FDA announced that Haleon Healthcare has issued a voluntary nationwide recall for its affected products. 

The big picture: Eight lots of Robitussin Honey CF Max Day Adult and Robitussin Honey CF Max Nighttime Adult are being recalled. 

  • Immunocompromised individuals who use the products could potentially have severe or life-threatening adverse events such as fungemia or disseminated fungal infection. 
  • Life-threatening events are not likely to occur in people who are not immunocompromised. 
  • Haleon has not received any reports of adverse events, according to the FDA.
