Harris commits $1mil to Clovis Community Hospital for wound care

Clovis Community Medical Center announced the surprise gift at a ceremony with staff from a special unit that aided a local luminary.

A specialized center at Clovis Community Medical Center is getting a hefty gift of support, courtesy of a former patient.

John C. Harris, the chairman of Coalinga-based Harris Farms, announced Thursday he would be gifting the hospital $1 million to Clovis Community’s Center for Wound Healing.

The center specializes in chronic, hard-to-heal wounds that require considerably more intensive care regimen than ordinary medical practice provides.

Harris made the gift after coming under their care recently, Community Health System said, announcing the contribution.

Harris attended a ceremony Thursday via Zoom to announce his surprise gift before staff members of the Wound Healing center.

“I’m extremely grateful for the excellent care I received from the Wound Center for my recent visits,” Harris said in a statement.

This gift will support the center by funding much-needed equipment, training for staff and ongoing support for the wound program, Community Health Systems chief development officer Katie Zenovich said in a statement.
