Valley Children’s Healthcare has received a $3 million donation from the James G. Boswell Foundation to support essential programs that help patients during and after their stay.
It is the largest single gift the J.G. Boswell Company has ever made in its history, which has spanned 100 years of farming in the Central Valley.
The big picture: The donation will help support cancer survivorship, adaptive sports, spiritual support and other enhanced services and social activities.
- The donation will fund college scholarships for patients who are in the Fresno Truck Center Cancer Survivorship Program.
- Funding will also be used to purchase new equipment to allow children with physical disabilities to participate in athletics and other recreational activities.
- For spiritual support, the donation will fund the hospital’s chaplaincy program, which includes the future renovation of the Jensen Family Chapel and support for the annual Celebration of Life event.
- Further, the donation will fund activities and services that support patients who are cared for by the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and nephrology teams.
What they’re saying: “Our mission is to give back to the communities in which we operate, and it means so much to us to partner with an organization like Valley Children’s that really does make such a profound difference in families’ lives,” said J.G. Boswell Company Vice President Cameron Boswell. “They’re at the forefront of saving lives, and I don’t think there is a more important cause than that.”
- Valley Children’s CEO Todd Suntrapak said the hospital is deeply grateful for the donation.
- “Their support is a testament to their belief in our mission and the vital work we do for the children and families of this region,” Suntrapak said.
