Newsom moving his children to Marin County for school

The governor’s children will have continuity in their Marin County schools and will not be uprooted when the governor is termed out in 2027.

Gov. Gavin Newsom and his wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom, will split their time between Sacramento and the Bay Area.

The governor’s office said in a statement that the family is moving to Marin County part time for their children’s education.

Driving the news: Newsom and his family currently live in a six-bedroom house in Fair Oaks, where the governor and his wife will continue to regularly stay.

  • Their children will stay with family in Marin County as they enter new grade levels in the fall.
  • According to a report from POLITICO, their oldest child will be starting high school in the fall.
  • The move for the children to Marin County will ensure that they do not have to switch schools when Newsom leaves office in January 2027.
