A group of masked individuals ransacked a Nike Store in Los Angeles and stole approximately $12,000 worth of merchandise.
The incident was caught on video, showing the suspects running through the store, stuffing shoes into trash bags, and ripping clothes off racks before fleeing.
Driving the news: The Los Angeles Police Department reported that 17 suspects in five vehicles arrived at the shopping center and entered the retail store with the intention of stealing merchandise.
- The suspects were described as four Black females and 13 Black males, aged between 15 and 20 years old.
- They used their large group size to intimidate store employees and prevent them from stopping the theft.
- The LAPD has formed a dedicated task force to combat organized retail crime, as flash mob retail crimes have become prevalent in Los Angeles.
- The incident is being investigated by the LAPD’s Commercial Crimes Division Organize Crime Retail Taskforce (ORCT) and anyone with information is asked to contact ORCT Detective Juan Campos.
