Westlands Water District has appointed Brad Carvallo as the district’s new Science Advisor.
Carvallo will provide scientific expertise and strategic guidance on water management, environmental compliance, regulatory matters and scientific investigations to the district.
THe big picture: Carvallo will be responsible for collaborating with state and federal agencies, academic institutions and key stakeholders to ensure that all water management decisions are grounded in science.
- He joins Westlands from Cramer Fish Sciences, where he was the Vice President and Principal Scientist.
- Before that, Carvallo was a Senior Environmental Scientist for the California Department of Water Resources and a Fisheries Biologist with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.
- Carvallo has over 25 years of experience working through fish, water supply and delivery challenges throughout the Central Valley.
- He has a Master of Science in Aquatic Ecology from the University of Montana and a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife and Fisheries Biology from UC Davis.
What they’re saying: Westlands General Manager Allison Febbo said Carvallo’s deep expertise in fisheries and water management will be a tremendous asset to the district.
