President-elect Donald Trump continued announcing key posts for his administration, with former Rep. Devin Nunes (R–Calif.) headlining the latest list.
Nunes was selected to chair the President’s Intelligence Advisory Board, a board with direct access to the President and oversight over the Intelligence Community.
The big picture: The post enables Nunes continued close access to Trump, particularly in an area of critical import to the 45th and 47th President, while enabling Nunes to continue serving as Chief Executive Officer of Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG), the company valued at $8 billion operating social networking service Truth Social.
- Nunes is the third member of the TMTG roster selected to join the incoming Trump administration. Education Secretary pick Linda McMahon and FBI director selection Kash Patel currently serve on the board of TMTG along with Trump himself.
- Beyond Nunes, Trump selected another Californian for a high-profile post in the administration: Former Ambassador to Germany and Acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell will join as Presidential Envoy for Special Missions, with a portfolio that includes foreign policy challenges in Venezuela and North Korea.
What he’s saying: Trump celebrated his selection of Nunes as continuing work that dates back to his tenure leading the House Intelligence Committee during the first Trump administration.
- “Devin will draw on his experience … and his key role in exposing the Russia, Russia, Russia Hoax, to provide me with independent assessments of the effectiveness and propriety of the U.S. Intelligence Community’s activities,” Trump said in a Truth Social post.
