Stanley has issued a recall involving over 2 million mugs due to a burn hazard.
The recall affects Switchback and Trigger Action travel mugs sold from June 2016 through December 2024.
The big picture: The detachable lids on the mugs can shrink due to heat exposure and torque, causing them to detach during use.
- There have been 91 reports worldwide of lids detaching, resulting in 38 burns and 11 cases needing medical attention.
- The stainless steel mugs were sold in various colors and sizes, with a polypropylene lid.
- Consumers with the affected mugs are advised to stop using them and contact Stanley for a free replacement lid.
