Fresno State’s football team suffered a 20-13 defeat in the Rose Bowl against UCLA in their season finale. The Bulldogs end their season under interim head coach Tim Skipper at 6-6 with bowl eligibility.
The loss in Pasadena was a microcosm of an up-and-down season for an inconsistent Bulldog squad.
On the field: UCLA’s Ethan Garbers passed for 289 yards, leading the team to victory with key plays and a 2-yard touchdown pass to J. Michael Sturdivant late in the game.
- T.J. Harden’s go-ahead touchdown in the third quarter, following a 35-yard reception by tight end Moliki Matavao, played a crucial role in UCLA’s comeback against Fresno State.
- Fresno State’s Mikey Keene, the Mountain West’s leading passer, completed 30 of 43 passes for 219 yards, but was unable to secure a win for the Bulldogs.
What’s next: UCLA, which had a challenging start to the season, finished with a 5-7 record, winning four of its last six games under head coach DeShaun Foster.
- Fresno State, with a regular-season record of 6-6, is now awaiting the announcement of its bowl destination on December 8.
