Amazon is set to invest an additional $4 billion in the artificial intelligence startup Anthropic, bringing its total investment in the company to $8 billion.
The big picture: Anthropic, founded by former leaders of the Microsoft-linked OpenAI, will maintain Amazon as a minority investor in the startup.
- As part of the deal, Anthropic will designate Amazon Web Services (AWS) as its primary training partner and utilize two AWS chips for training and deploying its foundational models for generative AI services.
