Clovis Unified bond measure on-track for passage

Thursday’s ballot drop from the county added enough support to move Measure A into passing territory.

Clovis Unified School District’s $400 million bond has picked up some steam with the latest ballots that were processed.

Per an update from Fresno County on Thursday, Measure A is now passing by a slim margin.

The big picture: Measure A, which needs 55% support to pass, is now at 55.47% support.

  • So far 40,538 people have voted for the bond, with 32,542 voting against it.
  • Measure A picked up just over half a percent from the election night total, which had it failing at 54.96%.
  • Fresno County processed 5,829 ballots that came from voters in Clovis Unified’s area from election night through Thursday, bringing the total number of votes cast in the race to 73,080.

What we’re watching: Fresno County estimates that it still has 99,450 ballots to process in total, although it is unclear how many of those ballots come from the Clovis Unified area.

  • The next update will be on Nov. 12.

Other school bonds: Measure H, Fresno Unified School District’s $500 million bond, was up Thursday by a 61.60% to 38.40% margin, holding steady from its election night totals.

  • Measure Q, the $698 million bond for the State Center Community College District, is still under the 55% threshold needed to pass.
  • Combining the votes in Fresno, Madera and Kings Counties, Measure Q is short at 53.5 percent approval.
