Former NFL QB Jay Cutler arrested for DUI

The former quarterback also had a loaded gun in the car.

Retired NFL quarterback Jay Cutler was arrested in Franklin, Tennessee, for allegedly driving intoxicated and possessing firearms while under the influence.

The big picture: The arrest followed a minor traffic collision in which Cutler allegedly rear-ended another vehicle. Police reported that he appeared to be slurring his words and had bloodshot eyes.

  • Cutler refused field sobriety tests and was taken to a hospital where a blood sample was obtained through a warrant.
  • Upon searching his vehicle, officers found two firearms, including a loaded pistol. As a result, Cutler was charged with driving under the influence, possession of a handgun while under the influence, failure to exercise due care to avoid a collision, and violation of implied consent of the law.
  • After being booked into the Williamson County jail, Cutler was released on a $5,000 bond.
