Porterville man sentenced to 4 years in prison for illegal firearm possession

The Porterville man was caught trying to hide the firearm during a traffic stop.

A Porterville man was sentenced to over four years in prison for illegal firearm possession on Monday.

Christopher Sean Lee, 29, was sentenced to 46 months in federal court for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The big picture: Lee also received an additional sentence for violating the terms of his supervised release in a prior federal case.

  • In September 2023, Lee had been on supervised release from a 2020 conviction for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
  • Law enforcement officers encountered Lee during a traffic stop and found him to be in possession of a loaded firearm.
  • Lee had reached behind the driver’s seat from the front passenger seat while officers approached the vehicle.
  • Officers found a 9 mm Glock 17 semi-automatic firearm on the floorboard underneath and behind the driver’s seat in the area where Lee was reaching.
  • Lee was also in possession of a large capacity magazine containing 24 rounds of 9 mm ammunition.
