Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore is facing allegations of NCAA violations related to impermissible scouting and sign-stealing.
The allegations come just weeks before Fresno State is slated to travel to The Big House to take on the reigning national champions.
The big picture: Moore has been accused of deleting text messages exchanged with a former low-level recruiting staffer who coordinated the off-campus, advance-scouting operation.
- The NCAA has recommended a Level 2 violation for Moore, and it is reported that messages between Moore and the staffer were recovered and provided to the NCAA.
What we’re watching: Former head coach Jim Harbaugh may also face Level 1 violations along with the former assistant coach, former staffer and former recruiting staffer.
- NCAA policy gives schools 90 days to respond to a notice of allegations, and a hearing in front of the NCAA’s committee on infractions is scheduled after the response.
