Central Valley Meat purchases Cargill’s Fresno beef facility

One of Cargill’s Fresno facilities is changing hands to another privately owned meat packing company.

Cargill Meat Solutions’ beef processing facility in Fresno is being sold to another family owned company.

Central Valley Meat Company announced Tuesday that it is acquiring the facility from Cargill, expanding its operations throughout the Valley.

Driving the news: Central Valley Meat Holding is family owned and employs over 2,000 people at four different facilities: Central Valley Meat, Harris Ranch Beef Company, Harris Ranch Feeding and CLW Foods.

  • Cargill will continue to operate its neighboring ground beef and hamburger facility.
  • Both companies say they are committed to retaining as many employees as possible through the deal.

What they’re saying: Central Valley Meat said in a statement that the move will strengthen its processing capabilities, enhancing its ability to meet market demand while reinforcing its commitment to supporting the cattle and dairy industry.

  • “Our decision to acquire the Cargill Meat Solutions beef processing facility in Fresno, California aligns with our long-term vision of strengthening our offerings to better serve the needs of our customers,” said owner and CEO Brian Coelho. “We’re excited to work alongside cattle producers in the state and region to continue delivering quality beef products for our customers and consumers.”
