California Gov. Gavin Newsom is requiring state workers to return to the office at least part time after staying home due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Cabinet Secretary Ann Patterson issued a memo saying the administration is requiring state employees to return to the office at least two days a week starting June 17.
The big picture: Any requests to work from home more than three days a week will be considered on a case-by-case basis, Patterson said.
- Patterson cited inconsistencies across agencies and departments as one of the driving forces to return the state’s employees to the office.
- Any agencies that have already implemented a remote work policy will not have to have their employees return to the office at least two days a week.
