Nearly two dozen Honda, Acura models recalled

The automaker says a fuel pump defect has been detected, although it has not yet caused any accidents.

Over 2.5 million Honda and Acura vehicles are being recalled in the U.S. because of a fuel pump defect.

That defect, Honda says, can increase risks of engine failure or stalling while driving.

Driving the news: Documents from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reveal that the fuel pump impeller used in 2017-2020 Acura and Honda vehicles was not properly molded.

  • That has resulted in low-density impellers, which can deform over time.
  • Car engines may not start or may stall while driving if the fuel pump module does not work.
  • Despite the issue, Honda said it has not received any crash or injury reports related to the recall.
  • Honda will replace fuel pumps in the recall at no cost, starting in February.
