Over five million people watched California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis debate on Fox News Thursday evening.
It was the second most-watched program in linear television Thursday night, Fox News announced.
By the numbers: The debate averaged 4.75 million viewers live, with another 700,000 viewers tuning in for the encore at 9:30 p.m. PT.
- There were 742,000 people in the 25-54 age bracket, representing nearly 73 percent of the cable news share in total viewers and 77 percent of the cable news share in the key demographic. The data comes from Nielsen Media Research.
- Including the encore showing, Fox News had over one million viewers in the 25-54 demographic.
- It was Hannity’s highest rated show of the year, marking a 200 percent increase versus the same day last year.
- Fox News held a triple digit percent viewership advantage over CNN (881 percent) and MSNBC (263 percent) overall, as well as in the 25-54 demographic with CNN (673 percent) and MSNBC (508 percent).
- The only linear television broadcast to beat out the debate was the season finale of ABC’s Golden Bachelor.
