A local nonprofit head has been selected as the new leader of the Greater Bakersfield Chamber.
The Greater Bakersfield Chamber’s Board of Directors has appointed Janelle Capra to be its next President and CEO.
The big picture: Capra has 28 years of experience working with entrepreneurs, small businesses, media, nonprofits and community organizations across the greater Bakersfield region.
- She is currently the Executive Director of the Alzheimer’s Disease Association of Kern County, where she has served since 2019.
- In 2019 Capra received the Chamber’s Beautiful Bakersfield Award for Humanitarian of the Year.
- Capra also volunteers as the Marketing Chair for the Executive Board for the Bakersfield Women’s Business Conference, a governing board member for the Mendiburu Magic Foundation, a mentor with the CSUB Alumni Association Runner Alumni mentorship Program and as a member of the Chamber’s Ambassador Committee.
- Her first day on the job will be Jan 4, 2024, when she will replace interim PResident and CEO Hillary Haenes, who served in that capacity since February.
- Haenes will continue with the Chamber and return to her previous role of Vice President of Member Engagement.
