An organized union protest targeting Fresno County Supervisors’ residential neighborhoods is drawing the attention of law enforcement.
The protest, an organized “car caravan” aimed at overwhelming the neighborhoods of local lawmakers, was developed amid on-going labor strife for in-home supportive services workers.
Driving the news: The caravan, organized by Service Employees International Union 2015, targeted the neighborhoods of two members of the Fresno County Board of Supervisors on Thursday evening – Steve Brandau and Nathan Magsig.
- Fresno County Supervisor Nathan Magsig, posting to Facebook on Thursday night, displayed the flyers distributed by the union to boost participation.
- Magsig, a Clovis resident, said that union participants nearly collided with two children in his neighborhood and scared his neighbors with the aggressive tactics.
- He added that the Clovis Police Department was called to investigate the alleged intimidation.
What they’re saying: “This evening SEIU 2015 came into my neighborhood, intimidated my wife and neighbors, almost hit 2 children with their cars. It appears it was an organized attack on my neighborhood,” Magsig said via Facebook. “I find these tactics appalling. If you have a dispute with me face me, leave my neighbors and wife out of it.”
- “Intimidation tactics will never be tolerated,” he added.
