Power restored to 2,000 north Fresno, Madera Co. residents amid soaring temps

Fresno’s triple digit temperatures caused thousands of homes to be without power.

Nearly 2,000 homes in northwest Fresno and Madera County were out of power as temperatures are set to hit 108 on Monday. 

Driving the news: Pacific Gas and Electric reported Monday morning that 1,918 customers were experiencing a power outage near Herndon Ave. and Highway 99 and into Madera County, beginning around 10 a.m.

  • Power was restored shortly before 1 p.m. on Monday.
  • The utility said that its preliminary determination is that the outage was caused by the weather. Fresno hit 100 degrees by noon, and Monday’s high is continuing to climb into triple digits and reach 108 degrees.
