Newsom pulls son from summer camp after photo of him maskless surfaces

Gov. Gavin Newsom withdrew his children from a summer camp after photos surfaced of his son, 10-year-old Hunter, attending the camp indoors and maskless.

Gov. Gavin Newsom withdrew his children from a summer camp after photos surfaced of his son, 10-year-old Hunter, attending the camp indoors and maskless.

“The Newsoms were concerned to see unvaccinated children unmasked indoors at a camp their children began attending yesterday. Their kids will no longer be attending the camp,” the governor’s communications director, Erin Mellon told Fox News.

The cable network broke the story.

California’s public health guidance requires children between the ages of 2 and 11 wear masks for “camps for youth, youth sports, and other youth activities including theater and music performances and band.”

The state also mandates the wearing of masks for students and teachers this year, regardless of vaccination status.

Reopen California Schools, among the top parental groups seeking to roll back Newsom’s coronavirus orders in classrooms, was dismayed at the discovery.

“This is in clear violation of his own mask mandates. Why can his kid be maskless, but not ours?” Reopen California Schools posted on Twitter, noting it would not publish photos of Newsom’s son.

It’s not the first time Newsom has found himself in hot water over the unequal treatment of his children compared to the rest of California with respect to coronavirus rules.

In November, Newsom caught flack for having his children back in-person at a private school in Sacramento County while a vast majority of California kids were shut-out of their classrooms due to coronavirus reopening scheme. at a private school in Sacramento County.
